Been at the hospital for over 72 hours . My wife is exhausted, i am exhausted, and the baby is absolutely beautiful and healthy. Mindset and patience are the only two things keeping me sane at the moment. Tough but not impossible. Goodluck to all dads we got this

I asked my grandpa what he did when my dad was born he said he was hunting for elk in the woods, got one and head pulling it out of a canyon. Lol
Kindergarten teacher for 0,5 – 6 year olds here, and something important I think you left out is: Do NOT kiss your baby on the mouth, especially your newborns!
(And don't let excited family members do it either, even your mother or mother in-laws!). Honestly, family which live outside of your home should not kiss the newborn baby's face at all, including cheeks and forehead. Should you consent to forehead/cheek kisses to your baby by family members later on, forehead/cheek kisses become safer once the baby is about 12-16 weeks old.

– "Why?" : Because quite frankly babies' immune system suck in the beginning and they easily get sick. A simple cold can easily develop to something far nastier like pneumonia if you transfer over your bacteria/viruses to your babies. It might sound cruel to not allow grandparents/parents' siblings to give the new family addition lots of love through kisses, and you might get a relative or two who will get grumpy/butthurt about it, but it's just not worth the risk. Your baby's health and life could literally be on the line. Do not let your relatives to give your newborn baby well-meaning kisses in the face. Honestly, just try your best to minimize the amount of bacteria and viruses in your home the first weeks of your newborn's life in general.
Children will always get sick eventually, but if you CAN you want to avoid having a sick newborn the first few weeks.

Additional tip:
– Even if your partner decide the baby will be breastfed, buy a package of formula as a "just in case". Just put it in the back of the food cabinet somewhere. Just in case. Because sometimes the breast milk doesn't kick in the first few days, sometimes everyone is just h-cking exhausted, or maybe an emergency happened, or maybe something else happened which makes formula the only option. Either way you don't want to start driving around looking for formula at 3am when you already have a hungry and screaming baby.
Buy a package of formula, just in case. (You're welcome).

number one tip, the fact tyhat you are worrying, means you're a great parent, keep at it youll catch on the baby needs 5 things sleep, eat, poop, pees, and love… 1 month and two weeks ago my beautiful daughter was born, and is perfect! <3 bless you all! and good luck!

I’m at the hospital right now after being discharged because my wife has preeclampsia we only stayed home one night. Since she’s understandably not in the right condition these past few days have all been up to me to care for our baby and im anxiety riddled with what I’m doing right and wrong but they was helpful

Promote how important is maternity leave for mothers in America , don’t expect every single mom to be stay at home mom having all the time in the world. That’s important too in the world of mothers and children. There’s nothing better to have 1 to 2 years of mother and child time.

We buy everything you guys don't need because moms are the ones taking care of the baby most of the time. We know what we need and believe me, if we are going to spend 24 hours a day with them everything we buy is needed. For our mental health, it is nice to have things WE WANT❤

Father of 5 bios. 3 more step kids. They all different guys. Don't be scared. I've had one in the nicu, one that slept, one that ate, one that cried a lot, one that never cried, some of them are big babies, some are small. This last one my wife got real sick and I had to do the majority of the care for the 1st week. He's right when he says enjoy it. This was it for me. Levi is 1 now and I am 40. Justin is 19 now. It's gone b4 you know it.
