I’m curious as to what you think about swaddle/sleep bags and SIDS risk. I have hesitated to use them as red nose don’t recommend them unless baby’s arms are out

What are you meant to do if your newborn consistently stays awake for 5-6 hours windows despite trying all the tips you’ve given?

My 15 day old son keeps waking up from my joint cracks like ankle or toes lol Starting to feel like I can’t move while they’re asleep

A little late to comment…but my 2 month old doesn't wake at all to feed and sleeps 6-8 hours straight in the night (1 am – 9 am). In the morning she is very dehydrated. I am quite worried.

@emmahubbard6675 we don’t have A/C right now and it’s summer time here so it’s over 80-90 degrees F sometimes during the day and can stay 80 degrees F in the house at night sometimes. What should we do if we want to get our 2 month old to sleep, but he keeps waking up if we don’t swaddle him cuz he wants to love arms around. We are concerned about overheating. What’s your advice? Thank you.

This is great information. Thank you! What about giving a pacifier to a baby less than 3 months old at night when they start to cry and don’t seem to be able to go back to sleep after a few minutes?

  7. @LLLadySSS

I had to learn to leave the baby to cry a bit more (and not just "eh, eh") just so it's established.

Is playing music in the room considered a loud room? I was thinking of having a calm lullaby or audio book in the room from day one?

  9. @LoraNazarenko

Can I ask if babies are alright to nap by themselves in a dark room in the day? I hear so many opinions on how the baby should always sleep in a room with adults present..

As a NICU RN located in Portland Oregon USA, I want to thank you for an EXCELLENT video on newborns and sleep. I'm forwarding it to my daughter who will deliver her first baby any day now.

They just won't sleep at all there up for hours then they get mad for being awake so long and there eyes wide open so I know its not light sleep

like im trying to filter out this music in the background of this video but cant focus bc of that

I am deathly afraid of SIDs and haven’t gotten any sleep because I watch my son to make sure he’s still breathing. He hates our bedside bassinet and is a poor sleeper. I have no idea what to do

Does anyone have tips on how to get a 10 week old to accept a pacifier? Trying to move her away from breastfeeding as a sleep comfort. Thank you 🙏

I’ve also mastered how to use the love to dream without waking her up…always go FEET first. Feet, bum then slowly, head ❤

  15. @derkburke

From an evolutionary perspective babies should not sleep alone. Look at any tribal population in Africa, Asia, Latin America etc, and babies are always carried and cosleeping is the norm. I’m not advocating for unsafe sleeping practices but Western culture’s overemphasis on SIDs is the reason our babies sleep so poorly.

Hard to keep the room quiet my fiancé snores 😂
We do all this, but as soon as we put him down, he wakes back up😢

  17. @praetes

"Who sleeps in a noisy room?" Well… maybe a NEWBORN who was last few months in a womb?? It is familiar with noises during sleep.

  18. @AisyahTae

Why is that we have to stay quiet with the newborns when in our womb they hear a lot 24/7 ? Just as we use the white noise I feel like a baby (at least mine) can sleep throughout people talking and some noise

The love to dream has been fantastic for my little one. She absolutely hated us swaddling with swaddle blankets and our swaddle me sack was awful! Shed squirm and cry and fight to get her arms out, no matter how tight they were in there. I love that the love to dream is a zipper so its so easy to get her in and out without noisy velcro too. But that's just my experience! Butttt im here because the purple crying has been miserable 😢 it's so hard to out her down, she just wants to be held. Or she wakes up constantly after putting her down. She always spits out the pacifier.

Hello Emma when your newborn baby (1+ week) is breastfeeding, can give them pacifiers?

  21. @lisaa2104

Thanks! What about having them sleep while walking outside? That is, can you bring them outside at all at the beginning?

  22. @dwaniaduhaneymillen

Hey Emma. First time mom of a 7 week old lil girlie here. She is a persistent tummy sleeper. I'm now trying to get her to sleep on her back instead and she detests being swaded (she hates being on her back). Any tips on that?
